Broncos picked third in MAC West

After finishing third in the Mid-American Conference’s Western Division in 2009, the Western Michigan Broncos aim to move higher this season.
In voting for the preseason predicted order of finish, third in the West is where the Broncos landed, in voting conducted by members of the media.
WMU earned two first-place votes, finishing behind Northern Illinois and Central Michigan.
The Broncos open the season with a trip to Michigan State on Sept. 4. A highlight of the schedule is three consecutive home games after the season opener: vs. Nicholls State, vs. Toledo and vs. Idaho.
Combined with a bye week on Sept. 25, the Broncos don’t play their second road game until an Oct. 9 visit to Ball State.
